A month after Karen Rinaldi moved from Bloomsbury to Rodale as SVP, GM and Publishing Director, Liz Perl, Publisher at Rodale Books, has left to join S&S as SVP, Marketing for Adult Publishing, reporting to Michael Selleck, EVP Sales and Marketing.

And following Bob Miller’s move to HarperCollins, Ellen Archer has been promoted to President of Hyperion. Will Balliett becomes EiC and Executive Director. And Mindy Stockfield moves from Disney-ABC to Hyperion as VP of Marketing and Digital Media.

Joanna Cotler has announced her decision to leave her position as SVP and Publisher, Joanna Cotler Books. She will continue her relationship with HarperCollins as Editor-at-Large. Her last day in the office will be May 16.

Meanwhile, after a brief stint at Workman, Matthew Benjamin has returned to Collins as Senior Editor. And Kathy Huck, who left HarperCollins, has gone to St. Martin’s as an Executive Editor. Also at Harper, Nicole Vines has joined the special markets department as Director of Premium and Corporate sales. She was at Macmillan.

Karen Patterson, previously VP, Director of Sales for Random House, has joined Sterling as VP, Trade & Institutional Sales, succeeding Jeremy Nurnberg, who left the company. (He can be contacted at jeremynurnberg@hotmail.com.) In the meantime, Jo Fagan has been laid off from Sterling, along with several editorial people.

Rob Weisbach, President and CEO of Weinstein Books has left the company “to pursue other publishing opportunities.” Publisher Judy Hottensen has been named interim President.

Editorial Director of HC UK’s Fourth Estate, Mitzi Angel, will relocate to New York to become Publisher of Faber, Inc. in the US as part of an initiative to expand that imprint.

Harcourt Children’s book veteran Allyn Johnston has joined S&S Children’s Publishing and will be VP and Publisher of a new imprint located in San Diego. Johnston will report to S&S Children’s trade publisher Rubin Pfeffer.

Laura Bonner is the latest addition to Endeavor’s New York book division, where she is the Subsidiary Rights Manager, for domestic rights. Rebecca Oliver handles foreign rights. Bonner comes to Endeavor from FSG.

Yvette Romero has joined Bloomberg Press as Director of Marketing and Sales after a short stint at Kaplan where she was Public Relations Director. She replaces Andrew Feldman, who has left to live the sweet life at Mars Incorporated.

Diana Calice has joined IPG as Spanish Book Specialist, replacing Carolyn Ramirez, who left earlier in the month. Calice was most recently at Barrons and previously at Borders and Baker & Taylor. Meanwhile, Miriam Fabiancic has been named Editor-in-Chief of Bertelsmann Direct North America’s Spanish-language Mosaico Book Club.

Nigel Roby has joined the Bookseller as Managing Director. Roby was Publishing Director at Centaur Media, where he oversaw publications that included New Media Age. In his new role, Roby will also oversee Kirkus Reviews, the Bookseller’s US sister publication.

Laureen Rowland, former publisher and founder of Penguin’s Hudson Street Press, which she left to move to Boston, has become a freelance nonfiction ghostwriter and editor. She may be reached at Laureen.Rowland@gmail.com.

Black Dog & Leventhal has made two new hires: Liz Van Doren as Editorial Director and Nathaniel Marunas from B&N as Associate Publisher. Laura Ross has left the company and may be reached at LauraRoss46@aol.com.

Peter Mauceri is retiring from his position as VP, Director of National Accounts and Sales Director at Little, Brown Adult. He was one of the original founding members of the Warner Books sales group. At the same time, Carol Lovercio is retiring from her position as Sales Director for the warehouse clubs. She has been with the company for eighteen years.

Michael Hansen, formerly CEO and President of Harcourt Assessment, who had joined Scholastic on March 17 as EVP of Scholastic and President, Book Fairs and International “has decided that there is not a sufficient role for him in the company at this time and he has decided to leave the company,” according to an internal memo. Victoria Tisch has joined Scholastic as Associate Director, Advertising and Marketing Operations. She has been freelancing at Scholastic since February 2007, and has previously held positions at Random House, Holiday House, and elsewhere.

Clayton Wilcox, Superintendent of Schools in Pinellas County, Florida, joins Scholastic as VP, Education and Corporate Relations. Wilcox will report to Ernie Fleishman, SVP, Education and Corporate Relations.

Till Wirth, a recent graduate of the NYU M.S. in Publishing Program, has joined Crown as an Online Media Manager. His job experience includes Interim Managing Director of Psychosozial-Verlag Publishing House in Germany.

Karina Mikhli, Executive Director of Production at Princeton Review, has left the company.

PROMOTIONS
Craig Young has been promoted to VP, Sales Director for BGI, Little, Brown Adult, and Octopus USA. He was Director of National Accounts. Chris Murphy, VP Trade Sales, will take over responsibility for all of warehouse club and jobber business. Karen Torres, VP Trade Marketing and Sales Support, will assume responsibility for field sales. At Little, Brown Children’s, LB Kids Editorial Director Liza Baker has been promoted to Editor-in-Chief of Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

Georgina Levitt has been promoted to the position of Associate Publisher, Vanguard Press/Perseus. She was Publishing Manager.

S&S Children’s Publishing announced that Paula Wiseman has been promoted to VP and Publisher, Paula Wiseman Books. She launched her imprint in 2002. Anne Zafian has been appointed deputy publisher of the trade imprints, consisting of S&S Books for Young Readers, Paula Wiseman Books, Atheneum, Margaret K. McElderry Books, and Allyn Johnston’s still-unnamed West Coast imprint. Zafian was VP Director of Distributor Sales and Retail Marketing. Lucille Rettino has been promoted to Senior Director of Pulse/Aladdin Marketing, overseeing the newly formed Pulse/Aladdin Publishing Group. Matt Pantoliano has been promoted to Online Marketing Manager, reporting to Matt Schwartz.

Karen Wojtyla has been promoted to the position of Editorial Director, Margaret K. McElderry Books/S&S. She joined McElderry Books in 2003 as Senior Editor, with a promotion to Executive Editor in 2005.

Kelli Chipponeri has been promoted to Associate Editorial Director with responsibility for overseeing the Running Press Kids and the Running Press Miniature Edition imprints.

Keith Kahla has been promoted to Executive Editor at St. Martin’s, and Christina Harcar, who was VP Director of Subsidiary Rights for SMP, has moved to the parent Macmillan as VP, Digital Marketing, reporting to SVP of Strategic Technology Fritz Foy.

At Picador, Publicity Director Tanya Farrell has been promoted to VP of Publicity and Associate Publisher. James Meader has been promoted to Publicity Director.

Kelly Nickell has been promoted to Executive Editor at Writer’s Digest, with all acquisitions responsibilities for that imprint.

In the HarperCollins sales department, Andrea Rosen has been promoted to SVP, Special Markets and David Wolfson has been promoted to SVP, International Sales. And Suzanne Wickham has been promoted to Senior Director of Publicity, reporting to Claudia Boutote. She will oversee the Harper One Publicity department.

AnnMarie Harris has joined the Scholastic Trade Paperback group as Senior Editor. Harris has been an editor with Scholastic’s Licensed Publishing group since 2004, after starting her career in children’s publishing at Grosset & Dunlap in 2002. Francesco Sedita has been promoted to Executive Creative Director, Creative Services. He was previously Creative Director. Geoff DeCicco has been being promoted to Art Director, Creative Services. He was previously Associate Art Director. Kim Balistreri has been promoted to Manager, Sales Support. She was previously Sales Coordinator.
Amber Quereski has been promoted to Senior Editor of Free Press.

Shannon Carlin has been promoted to Subsidiary Rights Manager at S&S. She joined the subrights department in 2005 as an assistant.
