Mark Gompertz has joined Hearst Magazines as Creative Director, Content Extensions, reporting to EVP/GM John Loughlin. Gompertz will focus on developing and executing “substantive content” for the company’s print and digital brands. Gompertz was most recently an eBook consultant/project manager and executive producer of enhanced eBooks, and previously EVP Digital Publishing at Simon & Schuster, and EVP/Publisher of Touchstone Fireside and Howard Books. Kate Brown will join Yale University Press as COO. She was most recently Managing Director of Bank of America‘s Technology, Media, and Telecom Group, which she joined in 2007.
Lisa Holton will join Classroom, Inc. as President on July 23, 2012. Most recently, she was founder and CEO of Fourth Story Media and VP Content Development at Callaway Digital Arts. Previously she was President of Scholastic Trade and Book Fairs.

Library Journal Book Review Editor Heather McCormack has left the company after nearly 14 years there in a variety of posts. She is joining 3M as collection Development Manager, starting August 6. Matt Tempelis, 3M Cloud Library Global Business Manager told PT.com, “We’re excited to bring Heather onto the 3M team. Continually improving our collection development experience and delighting our customers is a primary goal for all of us working on the 3M Cloud Library.”
Nita Taublib has been named Executive Editor at G.P. Putnam’s Sons. She was most recently Publisher and Editor in Chief at Bantam, and earlier this year she was named a Strategic Advisor for Romance at Open Road.
Don Linn has been named Director of the Chicago Distribution Center, replacing the recently retired Donald Collins. Linn was most recently at Firebrand Associates, LLC/Linn & Co, LLC; the Taunton Press; and Consortium Book Sales & Distribution, Inc. where he was the owner and CEO.
Peter McCarthy has set up his own consulting business, McCarthy Digital. He was previously SVP, Marketing at The Orchard and until last summer, VP, Director of Marketing Innovation at Random House, Inc.
John Mark Boling has joined Grove/Atlantic as a Senior Publicist. He was previously a Trade and Academic Marketing Manager at Continuum Books.
Liese Mayer has joined The Overlook Press as Associate Editor and Manager, Contracts and Subsidiary Rights. She was previously an Associate Editor at Little, Brown.
Jamie Brickhouse has left his position as Vice President, Director HarperCollins Speakers Bureau to be a lecture agent and freelance writer.

Kathleen Farrar has been promoted to Group Sales and Marketing Director of Bloomsbury UK and US, effective January 1, 2013. She will be responsible for all sales and marketing teams in UK and USA, taking on a portion of the responsibilities that had been under Evan Schnittman before he left for Hachette Book Group earlier this year. Farrar has worked for Bloomsbury in a variety of positions since 1998.
Anne Tate has been promoted to Publicity Manager for S&S.
