On January 2, Audible founder Don Katz will turn over his position as CEO to Bob Carrigan, who was previously Chairman and CEO at Dun & Bradstreet. Katz will transition to Executive Chairman.

Ken Michaels, CEO of Macmillan Learning since 2015, has resigned. At Tor, Katie Klimowicz, formerly Senior Designer at Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, joins as Senior Designer. Camille Kellogg joins Imprint as Assistant Editor; she had been Editorial Assistant at Harper Children’s.

At Pearson, John Fallon will retire as Chief Executive in 2020 after a successor is selected.

Karyn Temple is leaving her position as Register of Copyrights at the Library of Congress to become Global General Counsel for the Motion Picture Association.

Lee Ramsayer is leaving his position as EVP of Global Sales at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt at the end of the year.

At HarperCollins, Christine Edwards joins as SVP, Sales, effective December 30. She is presently VP, Group Sales Director for Crown Publishing Group. Robin Richardson, previously VP of Digital for RFD-TV, joins Tommy Nelson as Senior Director of Marketing. At Harlequin, Jennifer Choi, formerly Senior Subsidiary Rights Manager at Penguin Random House, joins as Manager of Subsidiary Rights, while Cat Clyne, formerly Editor at Sourcebooks, joins as Editor for HQN and Graydon House.

Effective January 6, Lauren Marino joins Hachette Books as Executive Editor. Most recently she was VP and Editorial Director of Gotham Books.

At Vintage/Anchor, James Meader has joined as Executive Director of Publicity and Social Media; he was most recently VP, Associate Publisher at Picador. Laura Barker, who was previously VP and Editor-in-Chief at WaterBrook & Multnomah, has been named VP and Publisher of those imprints. Two positions have been created as a result, and Kristopher Orr joins the Random House Creative Services department as Designer while Erica Wood joins as Ad Operations Coordinator. Rotem Moscovich, formerly Executive Editor at Disney-Hyperion, joins Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers as Editorial Director for Picture Books. At Random House Books for Young Readers, So Lin Wong joins as Director for Visual Merchandising and Tricia Lin, lately Assistant Editor at Simon & Schuster, joins as Associate Editor. Luke McCord, formerly Production Editor at Peter Lang Publishing, joins Random House Children’s Books as Production Associate. Erin Min joins One World as Associate Editor. Alison Sheridan joins Sasquatch Books as Social Media Manager.

At RBmedia, Megan Dobson has joined as Publisher for ChristianAudio. She was most recently Associate Publisher for W Publishing.

Jenn Abel Kovitz is leaving her position as Associate Publisher, Sales & Marketing at Catapult/Counterpoint/Soft Skull Press in mid-January.

At Basic Books, Jessica Breen will join as Marketing Director of January 3. She is currently Digital Marketing Strategist at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

Matt Brogan, Principal Consultant at Matt Brogan Consulting, has been named Executive Director of the Poetry Society of America.

At Viz Media, Ailen Lujo joins as Director of Publishing Marketing. Previously she was Executive Director of Trade Marketing at DC Comics. Chantelle Sturt, formerly Director, Global Marketing & Public Relations at Beacon Publishing, joins as Director of Publicity and Public Relations.

Alexis Banyon joins Sourcebooks as Director of Sales, Custom and Proprietary. She was most recently Director, Partnerships and Brand Management at HarperCollins. Sophie Ramos also joins as Subsidiary Rights and International Sales Associate. At Sourcebooks Landmark, Cristina Arreola, former Senior Books Editor at Bustle, joins as Associate Impact Marketing Manager.

Adam Kane joins the Naval Institute Press as Director. Previously he was Editor-in-Chief at University of Oklahoma Press.

In agency news…Hannah VanVels, formerly Editor at Blink YA Books, joins Corvisiero Literary Agency as Agent. Nora Rawn joins Trident Media Group as Foreign Rights Agent; she had been Senior Editor for Lonely Planet.

Cormac McEvoy joins Klutz as Senior Product Manager and will lead the Klutz Maker Lab line. He was previously Designer at Alex Brands. Lynette Munoz, formerly Designer at Canal Toys, also joins the imprint as junior Designer.

Maritza Matos joins Ingram as Senior Manager, Marketing Operations for VitalSource. She had been Team Lead, Demand Generation for Wiley.

At Simon & Schuster Children’s and Salaam Reads, Zareen Jaffery has stepped down as Executive Editor. She will be “taking time to explore her next chapter.”

At the New York Times Book Review, Elisabeth Egan joins as Preview Editor after filling in for Gal Beckerman, who is on book leave.

At Casemate Group, Daniel Yesilonis and Jenna Faccenda join as Marketing Executives. Yesilonis had been Marketing Assistant at Taylor & Francis and Faccenda had been Publicity Manager at Running Wild Press. Also joining the company is Jill Tanenbaum, Customer Service Manager.

Monica Hay joins Abrams as Marketing Associate.

At Bloomsbury, Daniel Loedel, formerly Editor at Scribner, joins as Senior Editor.

Erin McClary joins Sourcebooks as Associate Editor, while Julie Larson joins as Assistant Editor for eXplore.

Catherine Tung, formerly Assistant Editor at Vintage,  has joined Beacon Press as Associate Editor.

At Inkyard Press, Rebecca Kuss joins as Editor. She had previously been Associate Editor/Director of Recruitment & Acquisitions at Glasstown Entertainment.

At the University of California Press, Denise Feinsod is now CFO, while Aimee Goggin becomes Assistant Director of Marketing and Jolene Torr becomes Campaign Strategist.

Amanda Bostic is now VP, Publisher at Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Fiction. Alyson Day is now Executive Editor at HarperCollins Children’s Books. At Harper and Harper Perennial, Mary Gaule has been promoted to Associate Editor.

Paul Bogaards has been named Deputy Publisher, Executive Director of Marketing and Publicity for Knopf and Pantheon. At Penguin Young Readers, Robyn Bender has been promoted to SVP, Business Operations and Strategy. Linda Palladino becomes SVP at Random House Children’s Books. Casemate Group has added distribution for Australian Scholarly Publishing outside of Australia and New Zealand; Blikvelduitgevers globally; Bridge 21 globally; Kerns Verlag globally, excluding Germany; Messenger Publications in the US, through Casemate IPM; Neem Tree Press globally, through Casemate IPM; and Veritas Books in the US.

Beginning in January, Two Rivers Distribution will provide sales, distribution, and publisher services for Handheld Press print and ebooks. Effective March 1, 2020, the company will also provide global sales and distribution of print and ebooks for David R. Godine.

Beginning January 1, Independent Publishers Group will provide sales representation and distribution services for TI Inc. Books, formerly known as Time Inc. Books. It will also begin distributing the full catalogue of the Travesía imprint of Editorial Océano de Mexico. IPG has distributed selected Océano imprints since March 2014 and will, under the new partnership, add over 300 backlist titles to the IPG Spanish-language distribution program.

Simon & Schuster will handle sales and distribution for Manning Publications in the US and Canada effective January 1.

Bloomsbury is entering a joint venture with state-owned China Youth Publishing Group and its subsidiary, Roaring Lion Media. The Beijing-based venture will publish titles originate from China and license titles from Bloomsbury and other publishers for the mainland market. Vafa Payman, managing director of Bloomsbury China, will run the business.

Quarto, having simplified their adult publishing structure under the White Lion banner, will reactivate Frances Lincoln and Aurum Press as trade imprints beginning in January 2020.

Literary agents Anna Sproul-Latimer and Kent D. Wolf have formed Neon Literary, which will keep offices in New York and Washington, DC. Sproul-Latimer, coming from the Ross Yoon Agency, will serve as president and Wolf, coming from the Friedrich Agency, will be Founding Partner and Rights Director.
