Janet Gervasio, CFO for HarperCollins, will retire next January after 28 years with the publisher. The company will conduct an executive search for her replacement this fall. 

Elizabeth Breeden, formerly marketing director at Simon & Schuster, has joined Simon Element as senior marketing director.

Jen Rios has joined Greenleaf Book Group as director of marketing and branding.

Tina Pohlman has joined Abrams as executive editor of Abrams Press and the Overlook Press. Most recently, Pohlman was a literary agent at the Ross Yoon Agency, which she joined in 2020. She has also worked as executive VP and publisher at Open Road and VP and publisher of trade paperbacks at Crown.

At Chronicle Books, Allison Adler has been hired as senior editor at Chronicle Prism. Tracey Vega joins Chronicle Books as senior sales manager for mass market. Frankie Johnson joins as senior sales manager for special sales. Caitlin Eck joins as publicist, children’s. Marlene Kwasnik also joins the Chronicle Books team as financial analyst. In the design department, Wynne Au-Yeung and Henna Crowner join as design fellows. Kathryn Li joins as kids design fellow, and Eugenia Yoh joins as junior designer, children’s.

John Williams is joining the Washington Post as books editor on September 6. He was previously at the books desk of the New York Times, where he edited the section’s staff critics. Carlos Lozada, nonfiction book critic for the Washington Post, will join Times Opinion in September as a columnist. 

At Catapult, Summer Farah joins as associate editor.

At Scholastic, Lia Ferrone joins as senior publicist; she was previously publicist at Harlequin. Aleah Gornbein, formerly associate publicist at Holiday House, has joined Scholastic as publicist. Taylor McBroom joins as marketing manager, picture books at Cartwheel, Acorn & Branches. Previously she was senior marketing associate at Clarion Books. Emily Sulivan, formerly social media strategist at That Random Agency also joins Scholastic as marketing associate.

At Penguin Random House, Fanita Ghang joins Sourcebooks as database administrator.

Macmillan has announced a number of new hires: Abigail Burrus, lately business development specialist at Barnes & Noble, joins as data scientist. Veena Vittal joins as data architect; she was previously manager of data engineering at Dotdash Meredith. Matthew Miller has joined Macmillan’s eBook sales team as analyst, sales planning. Molly Kong joins the trade sales international team as an international sales manager. Daphne Lopez takes over as royalty contract administrator, and Aurelina Joran joins as accounting manager. Nicholas Iannacone joins as project manager of the technology team. Maggie Byrd joins Macmillan’s Digital Workflows department as associate product manager.

Jamison Stoltz has been promoted to editorial director of Abrams Press and the Overlook Press. Stoltz was previously executive editor of Abrams Press. 

At Macmillan, Diego Molano Rodriguez has been promoted to senior national accounts manager and leader of the ebook team. Jason Reigal and Janna Dokos have been promoted to senior production managers. Susan Carner has been promoted to national account manager on the Amazon team. Vincent Stanley has been promoted to associate director of production. Amanda Gutierrez has been promoted to production manager. Nina Frieman has been promoted to associate director of production, and Offauna Goodman has been promoted to assistant production manager. Olivia Kasdin has been promoted to associate national account manager. Allene Cassagnol and John Nora have both been promoted to associate directors of children’s production.

Naomi Duttweiler has been promoted to associate manager for licensed marketing and publicity at Scholastic.
