As widely announced on March 9, Greg Greeley has been named Chief Executive Officer of Simon & Schuster “effective immediately”. He succeeds Jonathan Karp, who had announced that he would step down to launch and lead a new imprint, Simon Six. Most recently, Greeley served as an investor and advisor to a range of technology and consumer companies. From 1999 to 2018 he had held a variety of positions at Amazon.

Bloomsbury has Jaime Leifer joining the adult trade division as Publishing Director, as of April 13. Leifer will oversee the adult literary fiction list as well as the nonfiction list, reporting to Bloomsbury U.S. President Sabrina McCarthy. Leifer was most recently the publisher of Columbia Global Reports.

A lawsuit from Julia Angwin, an author and New York Times contributing opinion editor, was filed against Superhuman, a parent company of Grammarly. In August the company released an AI feature that edited users’ work into the style of well-known authors such as Stephan King, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Kara Swisher. This feature was developed without the author’s knowledge or consent.
